What is a cutting horse
Cutting pits a horse against a cow in a battle of wills. Horse and rider must move quietly into a herd of cattle, cut one cow from the herd, drive it to the center of the arena and "hold it" away from the herd. The horse is scored on its ability to control the cow & keep it away from the herd, cow sense, attentiveness and courage. There is a 2 1/2 minute time limit!
What We Do
Jim and Cassie started their business in 1995 & transitioned to specializing in cow horses some 20 years ago. Jim has been training cutting horses ever since.
Jim has over $350,000.00 in documented earnings in the NCHA/USCHA.
Jim specializes 2yr olds, aged event horses and weekend show horses. We always welcome beginners, we are excited to grow the sport of cutting on the East Coast. We are excited to continue growing our team of Amateur riders!
Passion meets Hard Work
Jim's passion is training and showing cutting horses. There is a huge satisfaction in starting a horse under saddle to it all coming together the first time you walk that horse down to the herd and put your hand down.
